GARY DELAUNE [KLIF-1190-CH 5 KENS TV] (San Antonio, TX) Bert (Shipp) was a class act and was the epitome of what journalists need to be. We often shared information at various news scenes and when I went to KRLD-TV from KLIF, Bert called me one day and said…”I have just recommended you to a Houston broadcast company that needs a news/sports director” It was KNUZ/KQUE owned by Dave Morris and he offered me the job. It was a great stepping stone and a five-year tenure. It was a news gang unequalled in those days. We were all competitors but friends and he was one of the best. GD (www.garydnews.com)
