BENCHED ANCHOR WILLIAMS RETURNS WITH A SHINER Former face of NBC TV’s anchor desk Brian Williams returns as an anchor on September 22, 2015. This is just in the nick of time for Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S. This week NBC tells us that Williams bounces back as an anchor for breaking news on sister cable channel MSNBC TV. We remember the 56 year old journalist Brian Williams falls from glory in June after investigation reveals that he lays it on too thick with his field reports. Brian’s baaack!

BILL GARDNER [former WIBG-990 DJ] (Las Vegas, NV) Hello Jim, from Las Vegas… I still remember Don (Cannon) as a “new hire” from Long Island NY in 1970 as a late night guy (10PM to 1AM) on our staff for Buckley Broadcasting that included myself, and some names like Joey Reynolds, John (Records) Landecker, Don Wade, and Frank Kingston Smith Junior under a great program director, the late Jack Reynolds. Once arriving in Philadelphia, as you mentioned, he never left the city. Don Cannon passed away a year or so ago. I saw him last when Scott Walker and WOGL-FM organized the “Philly Legends Radio Reunion” in the late 1990’s, although my brother Andre (afternoons at WMGK-FM) told me Don came by one of his radio remotes in recent years to say “Hi.” Bill Gardner (www.billgardnerontheradio.com)

[Gentleman] JIM CARTER [KCBQ/KNUS/WFAA/KONO/KLIF/KXOL/KBUC] (San Antonio, TX) Hi Jimbo: when I was at KLLS (CLASS-FM) 100.1, Bill Gardner (6-10 A), followed by Bruce Buchannan PD (10-2), followed by Brian Pierce (2-7) & me (7-mid), overnights Kathryn Block (mid-6 A)…it was formatted to be a KVIL clone. we were in a high rise building on the 8th floor I believe, in the medical complex near Fredericksburg Rd. Now, I don’t know where the Y-100 (country music) studios are. jc
