BILL CHERRY [Realtor, In late 1950s Music ’til Dawn host on WWL-870] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Mel Pennington! Jim, I loved Mel. He and I used to go to the black joints on West Market and listen to their great juke boxes filled with jazz and R&B. He was just out of the service and I was about 16. I didn’t know he had died. I tried to make contact with him a few years back, but he didn’t respond. Love hearing your memory. Thanks for sharing. Bill

LESLIE WAYNE HODGES [ex KRCS DJ] (Lake Livingston, TX) Hi; In 2004 while with KMCM 96.9 \ 97.Gold station owner Tommy Vascocu [with Buck Owens backing] created a position called; “Overseer” so Program Director/PD. KMCM did not have. Today a PD is called Operations Manager is that correct, guessing cause there are computers, and technologies to manage now than the human individual element called personality and talent has pretty much been eliminated to voice tracking. in 2002 this is called “digitizing” now why do I not hear the word “digitizing” or do you know “digitizing” and “we only hire only those who can “digitize”. “Guessing they learned digitizing and were paid in a radio station while learning “digitizing”. adapting to new technologies is daily. In the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s strange I never saw beyond Magnecord, Ampex, Sony, Spot Master, turntables, tone arms, stylus, two track carts, cassettes, Q-Tips and no grain alcohol, taking meter, readings every three hours, lowering power or raising power. Since June 19, 2016 here from my place on the lake have Streaming Client – Barix
