LAURA RUNS FOR HILLARY’S SENATE SEAT Out of all the Conservative Talk hosts, Laura Ingraham is one of our favorites. We love to sit and talk with Laura for awhile. In the early 19th century when someone challenges a boxer they toss their hat into the crowded ring. According to the Washington Examiner, talk show host and Trump adviser Laura Ingraham ponders whether to toss her hat into the ring for a run in 2018 for the Virginia U.S. Senate seat currently held by Hillary Clinton’s former 2016 running mate Tim Kaine.
ROOFTOP TV ANTENNAS RETURN During the Fabulous Fifties we watch the original Adventures of Wyatt Earp on our black and white 17″ table top Truetone TV by way of the antenna on the roof of our house. During the 1980s, cable-originated live TV programming arrives. In the 1990s, pay TV customers subscribe to different tiers of TV channels. When cable TV rates get out of hand, rooftop TV antennas make a comeback. Parks Associates reports TV antennas rise to 15% in 2016 from 9% in 2013.

LIZ PATRANELLA Liz Houston – KTSA-550, KBAT-680] (Austin, TX) Subject: From Gary D(eLaune) to Bruce. After Bruce’s funeral service last Thursday, a group of us met for lunch. Gary had written a poem to Bruce and we were passing it among us to read. I thought you all would like to read it, so I asked Gary to email it to me. Here it is: Bruce and Gary and Happy Days He was a tall Texan with a resonant voice, For local sponsors the talent of choice, He graduated from Jefferson but looked like Abe, The local heart throb for every bobbie sox babe, He was so popular in that musical age, One might have thought Elvis was on stage, He could have been a network host, But he didn’t seek stardom from coast-to-coast, Dick Clark was star of American Bandstand, Bruce had his own kingdom in South Texas land, Teenage girls would swoon and scream, Bruce was the vision in every feminine dream, He was six feet four and looked over the crowd, His thunderous sound was never too loud, Our lives first touched back in ’63, He was working radio here. I was in Big D, Hey Gary, this is Bruce at KTSA, Can you give me radio reports about JFK? Gordon McLendon was the network’s owner, So I became a newsman loaner, I provided him with inside facts about Lee Harvey and Jack, But as years flashed by we lost track, Until I moved here from Houston for channel five, We agreed to keep our friendship alive, I soon learned that he was one of San Antonio’s best, He conquered setbacks but passed every test, He was friends with so many stars of the screen, Bob Hope, Dean Martin and Steve McQueen, He often visited with legendary Ringo Starr, He once told me of his interview with Candy Barr, We met every week with a group of old coots, Some wore tennis shoes…others wore boots, We discussed current events, politics and how life ends, But none of us ever had to buy Depends, Almost ten years we rekindled those memories of the past, Never knowing if the program would last, I’ll miss my co-host and loss of a great friend, But it is a new beginning and not the end. As the Lord’s Program Director gives us the cue, Bruce, this edition of Happy Days is for you.

MARY STODDARD [Sam on KVIL FM 1964] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Today’s Issue Mentions “Sam”. Hi Jim – Thanks so very much for the mention in today’s Issue! Loved it! xoxoxo Mary “SAM” Nash Stoddard
TRIVIA ANSWER: On February 6, 1924 the first radio worship service airs on the British Broadcasting Corporation in England from St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London.
CHARLES GEORGE [KC5RAI – ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Actually, I think it is the friendship changes. Also the Scriptures talk about the problems of too many friends. What a friend we have in Jesus. Besides you have done more than most only dream of, me included. I always got in the door then had it put me out. Home Business works for those who actually know what they are talking about, the rest go by the wayside. I know for me I have nothing anyone would want, since it will be obsolete. My most valuable possession is my Sangean ATS-818. Also I think the professionals who read your newsletter have more to add about Friendship.
WALTER WINCHELL (April 7, 1897 – February 20, 1972) A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.
