KENT BURKHART [legendary radio programmer/consultant Burkhart/Abrams] (Miami/Key Biscayne, FL) Subject: Dr. Don Rose! Well, someone found Don before me…and hired him. Then it was my turn. Don was the best morning person ever, in my opinion also. I’m happy we share that opinion. Incidentally, I have DC’s from Bob Whitney and Bob Todd (who did the actual camera work), but I have not asked Bob for a site where I can look at them on my handy dandy computer or ipad. Would you mind sharing the site address????? I have never looked for it, but would like to do so. The last time I saw Don was sharing a panel with him at the NAB Radio Show which was held in San Francisco….”radio legends” was the panel….either 2000 or 2002 I believe (others on the panel were Lee Abrams, Casey Kasem, and Gary (Mr. Laugh In) Owens hosted by Dan Vallie…we had a huge crowd in the thousands and Gary and Don kept them laughing… and I got some private time together with Don and along with his wife, Kay…we talked about radio and his career…and repeating what I wrote in an earlier sentence “Don, you are the best morning personality of all time. Thank you for coming to Atlanta and sharing your talent”. He smiled, waved goodbye…and that was it…farewell Don…you are missed!!!!!!!!!!!! And, incidentally, what years did you work at KXOL??? I spent a lot of good days in that establishment on Lancaster Street. Thanks!!! KB. Kent Burkhart

DON SUNDEEN [former KCOH-1430 OM/PD/DJ-Hi Records promotion-TV ad prod] (Dallas, TX) Thanks for giving Bob Lefsetz credit for the opinion I sent out, I try to always credit content I borrowed from others. Hope Suzie is bringing companionship and happiness. Our new addition, Barkley, a 9 year old greyhound/lab mix who had been facing euthanasia, quickly settled in and constantly shows his appreciation and love for his new housemates.
JIM GOUGH [‘Mr. Texas’-movie actor-voice actor] (Austin-Liberty Hill, TX) It was ’86 or ’87. A guy named Bob Anderson owned KRLY and my office was in the same building on Westheimer. Channel 26 TV was on the ground floor and I produced many a spot there! I think Rod (Tanner) only did a year or so at KOUL. Guy named Bob Trask moved to Corpus to manage the station. His wife was a model and I used here in some spots as well. Jim Gough

CHARLES GEORGE [ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Hi, I remember in 1980 or so NPR tried to get rid of all the low powered stations running less than 100 KW and those that were on the air less than 12 Hours a day. They implied anything less was a sandbox and a waste of air space and should be allocated to those with more resources. Lorenzo Milam when he was at KCHU (FM) was against Government or Corporations funding, just thought listeners should sustain the station. I agree, since it can effect programming, censorship whether direct or in-direct. Like new musicians will find it harder to get air play. Hope you Rest on Labor Day, Charles George, KC5RAI
TRIVIA ANSWER: In 1985, the National Coalition on Television Violence names ZZ Top’s Legs, The Rolling Stones’ Under Cover of the Night and Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the most violent music videos on television.
