FRENCH SWAT TEAM CARVE ISLAMIST TERRORISTS INTO PIECES The scene ends for Muslim assassinations of 12 people at Paris, France satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Just like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’s final episode, two Muslim terrorists storm out the building firing their AK47 missiles but they strike no targets. French SWAT team mows down the Islamic terrorists like ragweed, plus the hostage is set free. But do the terrorists really win? Will frightened media self-censor terrorist stories to escape violence? Is this another work place violence from crazy individuals?

DALLAS-GREEN BAY ICE BOWL PLAYER DEPARTS Probably one of the most famous football games of all time is The Ice Bowl between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers on December 31, 1967. Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jethro Pugh #75 is part of the coldest game in NFL history. In 1969, I meet Jethro Pugh plus Dallas Cowboys Doomsday Defense defensive end George Andrie (#66) and offensive tackle Rayfield Wright (#70) at Jersey Lilly banquet hall in San Antonio, TX. Sad to say that Jethro Pugh dies at 70 on Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

GLEN CAMPBELL HAS MERRY CHRISTMAS In 1969 Country-Pop singer Glen Campbell sells more records than The Beatles. He has his own popular TV show on CBS. Also in 1969 Glen Campbell pays a visit to my PM Drive DJ show on KBUC FM in San Antonio, TX. He truly is a Southern Gentleman. In 2011, after he announces that he has Alzheimer’s disease the 78-year-old singer-guitarist begins his Goodbye Tour. Glen Campbell spends a very Merry Christmas 2014 at home with his family in Nashville, TN. (http://tasteofcountry.com/glen-campbell-christmas-family/)

CHARLES GEORGE [KC5RAI – ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Luau Larry and The Sandcrabs. I have a Yaseu FT-857D for amateur use but for now have taken it and put it in my closet. I also have a HT from Alinco. But for most of my Ham activity use EchoLink on my Android. There are a lot of places I would like to visit, but I also want to visit places here in Dallas while I can. My best times traveling have been with groups large enough to break up into smaller groups, so we could do various things on a trip. Also I like to have enough time that everything is not on a tight schedule but there is time to enjoy the events or activities. Like why Big Bands gave way to Combos, etc. My worse subject in school was Math, but for some reason it is the subject I use the most in my hobbies and other activities. I find some things that Count can not be counted, and everything that can be counted does not Count. I like the Kings, Counts, Dukes, and Earls of Jazz and Blues: King Oliver, B.B. King, Freddie King, Count Basie, Duke Robbilard, Earl Hines. Charles George, KC5RAI

MIKE MCDERMOTT [Actor, DJ, voiceovers, radio advertising] (Houston, TX) Subject: The State of Houston Radio – 2015. Dear Jim Rose, Frankly, I am disgusted with Houston radio – How does the 6th largest radio market have such poorly programmed commercial radio? Cumulus KHJK-FM (AirOne) is awful and is programmed by EMF in Sacramento, the same people that bring you K-LOVE in other markets. We have KSBJ-FM and other Christian radio on the AM side. We need a AAA (Adult Alternative) station in Houston. Something like KBCO-Denver or KPRI-San Diego. Are the suits in control saying that the 30-65 demo has no money? Do they believe we don’t listen to terrestrial radio and opt for Sirius XM or Pandora? Do the suits ever stop to wonder why this happened? AAA has a wide-appeal for a more discerning audience. Most who listen to this format have a higher income and higher education. If I could program a radio station in Houston, AAA format is what I would choose. Regards, Mike McDermott
TRIVIA ANSWER: For four years in the mid- to late-1960s, Chicago-born stand-up comedian, Bob Newhart, once owns WNUA FM (then WDHF FM). George Robert [Bob] Newhart born September 5, 1929 in Oak Park, IL well-known for his deadpan and stammering delivery becomes quite popular in the 1960s with his record albums full of amusing rants: Best of the Button-Down Mind, Something Like This… and The Bob Newhart Anthology. Newhart stars in two long-running and award-winning situation comedies, first as psychologist Dr. Robert [Bob] Hartley in the 1970s sitcom The Bob Newhart Show and then as innkeeper Dick Loudon in the 1980s sitcom Newhart.
DON SUNDEEN [DJ/Hi Records promotion/TV ad prod] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Sunday funny/Website. Hey Chuck (Dunaway), just went to your website, you have reason to be proud, it’s beautifully done and portrays you well. Lot of familiar faces, loved the Danny Williams stuff and your TV character. The WIXY concert ads would have made Bill Young proud. Congratulations on a wonderful career and life. your friend don (www.chuckdunawaydj.com/)
JOHNNY CARSON (October 23, 1925 to January 23, 2005) If it weren’t for Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor of television, we’d still be eating frozen radio dinners.
