BILL GARDNER [former WIBG-1020 DJ] (Las Vegas, NV) Hello Jim, from Las Vegas… A bit more on your “Rocky” movie trivia question. I was morning man and program director at WIBG Philadelphia when I took a call one morning after my airshift. Caller identified himself as movie director John Avildson, told me he directing a new movie with an “unknown star” (his words) who “grew up in Philadelphia and loved WIBG while there.” He told me the movie was being shot in Philly, “they had no money,” and essentially what he wanted from WIBG for the movie, and would I be interested in doing it? I told him that it really wasn’t something that I’d be crazy about doing, but I knew my midday guy Don Cannon probably would. Don eventually asked our national program director for permission to use one of our jingles in the clip, and the national PD later said he was most afraid that it was a porn movie, but eventually OK’d it. We were all thrilled when “Rocky” came out, and I thought again what an idiot I was for passing the opportunity off 🙂 Bill Gardner (www.billgardnerontheradio.com)

MIKE KELLAM [ex KHFI FM/KHFI-970, NBC WMAQ-670 engineer] (Estes Park, CO) Hi, Jim! Yes, I remember the apartments as Parkview-1616 W. 6th Street (Austin, TX)! I guess the two girls were there after I went to Chicago. However, I do remember going by your apartment after work (KHFI FM), and I recall that at 4 or 5, someone in the apartment above you came home from work and then we heard the rhythmic squeak of the bed or couch for a while. (Maybe one or both of the girls you mentioned was involved!) Also, Ed Beaky, who was in radio or TV sales or both, at KHFI, also lived at the Parkview. Regards to you and Susie. Mike Kellam

JAY WALKER [CBS Radio Dallas/KJKK FM/Infinity KTSA-550/KTFM FM/Jay Walker Prod] (Dallas-McKinney, TX) Subject: John Cook. Hey Jim Jack Parnell was asking about John Cook the other day. I worked with John in Dallas (TX) and lost track of him around 2010. At that time he was PD for a Greater Medias outlet in Philly. John is on Facebook and has recent posts. I hope this helps Jack make connection. Jay Walker
