DAN MCCURDY [formerly Charlie & Harrigan-KLIF-1190/KBOX-1480 Dallas, TX/WMEX Boston, MA] (Sherman, TX) Subject: O’Reilly Out? Thanks for accepting my message, Jim, and for the heads-up on my upcoming ‘double dip’ into your limited space! I certainly understand content limits, having had to face that truncated beast thousands of times during my copywriting daze! BTW, I wanted to send a note to Kenny Dowe for his kind acknowledgement of my earlier apology, but alas, I have not written him since my last ‘puter perished, his address being a part of that lost cause. If you have his address, I sure would appreciate you passing it along to me. Again, thanks for everything — not the least of which is serving steady duty as archivist for radioheads spread to the four corners of the planet. Best to you and Suzie, Jim. Dan McCurdy; Sherman, TX
TRIVIA ANSWER: On October 4 1922 the first World Series broadcast on WJZ-770 (WABC-770 NYC) Newark, NJ and WGY-790 (WGY-810) Schenectady, NY.
CHARLES GEORGE [KC5RAI, ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Radio Daze. I still enjoy listening to Radio, just not as much. I have noticed a station on 1300, Radio Mexicana. I am not sure has a Country Radio Station in Austin gone Spanish? I enjoy the Big Band music at times on 1220, XEB, gives me a chance to practice my Spanish. I like it even though the station can be heard on TuneIn. With the HD channels, I have thought of putting on my own show of Folk Music. But I would probably be the only listener. I noticed KRLD 1080 is in HD, but they only show their ID in text. HD on AM seems like a waste. If a Reader in DFW wants a used Martin Guitar, I have one. I paid $800 with case but then it was used when I bought it. I play my other Guitars more and they are not as well thought of but I like them better. I would ask $200 in Cash that they donate to the Publisher. My number is (214) 388-3242. KC5RAI, Charles Email: KC5RAI@gmail.com
JEAN SHEPARD (November 21, 1933 – September 25, 2016) When life has ended, my time has run out My friends and my loved ones, I’ll leave them no doubt. But one thing for certain, when it comes my time I’ll leave this old world with a satisfied mind.
