BILL CHERRY [Realtor, In late 1950s Music ’til Dawn host on WWL-870] (Dallas, TX) Hi, Jim and Suzie — Walt (Hammock) really did lose everything, including his car. Apparently his house flooded almost to the ceiling and it is unlivable. He has rented a furnished house. He’s trying to get enough donations to help hem. Patty and I helped the best we can at the moment. The last I heard, it was about $10,000, but he was starting to wonder if it was an inadequate amount. Here’s the link to where contributions can be sent: https://www.gofundme.com/bwmas2-we-lost-everything-in-harvey Here’s his email address if you want to get the specific details. I know he’ll be thrilled if you mention his predicament and where friends can make donations. Whammock720@att.net

DENISE COOK [late Nick St John’s sister] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Archived news. Hi Jim I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work. You went way above and beyond what I could even expect from you. I’m grateful for your time and effort. I have added you to my prayer list and will be thinking of you as you try to maneuver through this awful time and regain your life. I have many friends that also suffered major losses but not the health situations. That seems like too much and unfair when you need all your strength to keep going. I am ever thankful and will treasure what you’ve sent me. All the best & healing, Denise

CHARLES GEORGE [kc5rai, ex KCHU FM] (Dallas, TX) Subject: Direction for Radio. I think that Radio will thrive as long as it does what Joe Albertsons believed, ” We do not need to be The Largest, but the Best”. Though companies often forget what the Founders taught, but if they were around they might not think the same as in the Past. Like I found a Sigma-Martin Guitar, I can play almost everything on it that I play on my Martin Guitar, plus might take it places, I would not take my Martin. Often talent is stifled by those with Vested Interests in the Industry. And if looking to making money would probably think the same. But being an Amateur Radio Operator and Amateur Musician not in the same league as others. Rumor has it that I have been seen playing my Soprano Recorder and at times my Mandolin at The West End.
TRIVIA ANSWER: On September 17, 1931 RCA Victor unveils its new invention, the 33 1/3 rpm long-playing or LP record, at the Savoy Plaza Hotel in New York.
WAYNE WARNER [Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center] (Springfield, MO) Jim, Where to find a decent girl to date? I’d recommend the church, but you’ve already described the possibilities there. A young great nephew has asked my sister to pray that he would find a good wife. He is about 22. My sister is in an assisted living in Oregon, my home state. My first wife was Joy, and she was a joy. She came to Eugene from Des Moines to attend a Bible college, and I saw her and fell hard. But it was almost 2 years before I got up enough courage to ask her out. We were married in 1958, had 3 daughters. But the most sorrowful time in my life came when a brain tumor developed and she died after surgery at age 38. My daughters grew up to be wonderful ladies. Pat and I have been married 23 years. We give God the glory for taking us through some difficult places and some very joyful places. God bless. He must have a nice lady for you. Wayne
SOCRATES (469 BC – 399 BC) By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.
